Biography: Mr. Nielsen received
his Juris Doctor degree from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark
Law School in its first graduating class in 1976. He
entered law practice in 1976 in a general civil
trial practice and appellate work before the Utah
Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of
Appeals. In 1978, Mr. Nielsen specialized in
appellate matters for all firm clients, including
appeals from final judgments, interlocutory matters,
petitions for certiorari to the higher appellate
courts, and extraordinary writs. He was admitted to
the United States Supreme Court Bar in 1981.
In June 1985 he left law practice and accepted the
position as a Utah Supreme Court staff attorney. In 1987
he was assigned to assist in the organization and
start-up of the Utah Court of Appeals. He returned to
private practice in December 1991, specializing in
appellate practice and serving as a member of the Utah
Supreme Court’s Appellate Rules Committee and the Utah
Bar Appellate Section Chair. He has also developed
extensive expertise in family law matters and real
estate sales transactions. |
